The Friendship
TABLE
Every evening at 5:00 pm, the Friendship Table—
a long wooden table positioned in the middle of
the dining area outside of Café 100 at Messiah
Village—draws friends, new and familiar, together
for conversation and a meal.
Everyone is welcome.
“It’s an example of what a welcoming, social place
this is,” said Arnita Hawkins, a Friendship Table
regular, who has had a seat at the table since she
moved in seven years ago.
Some evenings bring just a handful of residents,
while others fill every chair. No matter the size of
the gathering, the table’s spirit of invitation remains:
newcomers are always welcomed.
“Everyone feels like family at the Friendship Table,”
said fellow regular, Galen Goss. “He took the words
right out of my mouth,” Arnita warmly added.
