WHY I GIVE
Marjorie Woodward, Messiah Village Resident
W
hen Marjorie Woodward first came to
Messiah Village, it wasn’t exactly part of her
plan. Life, however, had something different in mind.
Eight years ago, her husband’s health challenges
brought him to Messiah Lifeways. Marjorie sat by his
side each day and watched the construction progress
on Village Square just across the road.
One day, in 2017, she decided it was time to make
Messiah Village her home too—so she could be
closer to him, and part of a supportive community.
“ It feels like family
here,” Marjorie says
with a smile. “There’s
a deep sense of
caring that you feel
every day.”
She especially appreciates the amenities, like the
Pathways Institute for Lifelong Learning program,
which keeps her mind sharp and learning new things.
As a natural observer and organizer, she is always
looking for ways to bring people together. From the
view in her apartment, she noticed the firepit in the
Wesley Courtyard wasn’t being used often, so she
started a Friday night gathering. What began as a
simple idea has blossomed into a weekly tradition,
drawing around 25 neighbors for conversation,
laughter, and community.
